India’s entry in Iran-America backchannel talks, efforts to stop the war intensified with the initiative of many countries

New Delhi: Tension is continuously increasing in the Middle East due to the ongoing conflict between America and Iran, the effects of which are being felt both directly and indirectly in the global markets. As a result, efforts to prevent war between these two countries have intensified on the global stage. Behind the scenes, several major powers are actively engaged in negotiations with both countries; Amidst this ‘back-channel’ diplomacy, India’s role is also coming to the fore.

According to sources, before the recent peace announcement by US President Donald Trump, the most important secret talks were held through Oman and Türkiye. The objective of these efforts was to create a path of dialogue between the two countries and to control the growing conflict.

Oman again becomes an important mediator

According to Bloomberg report, Oman has once again played the role of mediator and brought the two arch rivals to the negotiating table. Historically, Oman has also been active in such diplomatic initiatives.

Participation of many countries including India

It has also been revealed in the report that apart from Turkey and Oman, diplomatic messages were also continuously exchanged through India, Saudi Arabia (Riyadh) and Egypt (Cairo). Together, these countries have played an important role in taking the dialogue process forward.

India has balanced relations with both the US and Iran, due to which New Delhi has helped in maintaining regional stability and keeping the lines of dialogue open.

Mediation working like ‘security valve’

Although it is not clear how much direct impact these secret talks had on Trump’s ‘5-day ceasefire announcement’, diplomatic circles believe that the activism of these countries prevented the situation from worsening.

According to experts, these efforts are acting like a ‘security valve’, which has helped prevent the war from spreading further.

Diplomacy intensified amid war

At present, while on one hand there is military tension in the region, on the other hand many countries are trying to normalize the situation through talks behind the scenes. For the first time in the fourth week of the war, so many countries have come together and tried to reduce the distance between Washington and Tehran.

This indicates that more intense activities may be seen at the diplomatic level in the coming days.

Attempts have already been made

Even before this, there were reports that Pakistan, Türkiye and Egypt were trying to bring both the countries to the negotiation table by staying behind the scenes. It is also being said that on behalf of America, Vice President JD Vance can participate in these possible talks.
