Akshar Patel played an important role in this victory of the Indian team, who changed the course of the match by doing wonders in fielding. Akshar played a key role in dismissing the dangerous Harry Brook and Will Jacques in two separate but crucial phases of the match. Akshar’s fielding made a big difference in this high-scoring thriller.
After Team India reached the final, great opener Sunil Gavaskar praised Akshar a lot. He believes that Akshar is on his way to becoming one of India’s greatest players due to his excellent skills in every department of cricket and his very good understanding of cricket.

Brook’s catch ‘unbelievable’
Akshar ran 24 meters back from the cover position and took a brilliant catch to send Brook to the pavilion. After this, Jacques played Arshdeep Singh’s wide full toss towards deep point. Akshar ran to his left and caught the ball but as he could not maintain his balance on the boundary line, he bounced it towards Shivam Dubey.
Gavaskar said on Star Sports, ‘The catch that Akshar took of Brook was incredible. Brook can change the course of the match and every opportunity to get his wicket should be taken advantage of. Akshar did the same. He ran 24 metres, kept an eye on the ball, controlled himself and took the catch. Incredible.’
He further said, ‘He also played an important role in dismissing Will Jacques. The partnership of Jacob Bethel and Jacques was swinging the match in England’s favor but Akshar ran to his left, caught the ball and cleverly passed it to Shivam Dubey. This shows his understanding and good judgment of cricket. At the top level, your intelligence and passion is what separates great players from other players. On the basis of his batting and bowling, Akshar is going to become one of the great players of India.

Akshar is not letting Jadeja be missed.
Gavaskar said that Axar has filled Ravindra Jadeja’s place well after his retirement from T20 International cricket. He said, ‘Before him we had Ravindra Jadeja and Akshar is filling his void very well. His bowling needs a little more refinement. This will come with experience. His line, length and speed are continuously improving.
Apart from this, Gavaskar praised Jasprit Bumrah and said, ‘Fast bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah are born once in a century. He plays in all formats. So whether it is a Test match or ODI or T20, you give him the ball and he will do his job very well.
