India’s historical presence and investment plans of Uttar Pradesh will woo the world. Live coverage on Buzz and special debate of Brajesh Mishra live from Davos Switzerland
Davos, Switzerland The global economy is grappling with uncertainties, geopolitical tensions, rising debt and new risks from Artificial Intelligence. In such a situation, India is emerging as a strong ‘systemic power’ in the 56th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) (19-23 January 2026). Under the theme ‘A Spirit of Dialogue’, this platform has now become the center of geo-economics, where India is not only telling its development story but is also playing a decisive role in the new world order.
According to WEF, nearly 3,000 delegates from more than 130 countries have gathered in Davos, including 65 heads of state, more than 400 top political leaders and more than 850 global CEOs. India’s delegation is the largest and most influential to date, comprising central government ministers, representatives from 10 states and leading industrialists.
Former Union Minister Smriti Irani will also be a special attendee of the WEF 2026 meeting in Davos. His contributions and ideas will further strengthen India’s position on the global stage. His presence will further enhance India’s influence.
The biggest specialty this time is the united presence of 10 states. Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala. These states are under the rule of different political parties, but have come together on one platform to attract investors. This is a living demonstration of the strength of India’s federal structure.

The participation of Uttar Pradesh is especially in discussion. Invest UP officials are focusing on mega projects, infrastructure, logistics and skill development here. Uttar Pradesh’s investment-friendly policies and rapid economic growth are attracting global companies, which strengthens India’s overall growth story. Among other states, Assam (45% growth rate in last 5 years) and Jharkhand (for the first time with the theme ‘Growth in Harmony with Nature’) are also presenting their potential.

The India Pavilion is the largest in the history of Davos. The 10,000-square-foot space, at a prime location on the Promenade, is no longer an exhibition but a deal-making hub. Here state governments, global companies and investors are holding meetings day and night. Focus areas: Manufacturing, Electronics, Energy Transition, Supply Chain, Skill Development and State-level projects. A separate pavilion of Andhra Pradesh is also strengthening India’s presence.
A strong presentation is being made by the Central Government on digital infrastructure, energy and industrial policies. In corporate India, companies like Tata, Reliance, Infosys, Wipro, HCL are part of the global conversation on AI, technology and innovation.
