India’s lower order firepower is tremendous, there is a lot to learn here: Scott Edwards
Ahmedabad: Netherlands’ campaign ended after losing by 17 runs against India in the group match of T20 World Cup 2026. Captain Scott Edwards praised the hosts’ batsmen, especially the explosiveness of the lower order.
India scored 193 runs for 6 wickets at Narendra Modi Stadium. Netherlands reached 176/7, but could not reach the target. Edwards said, ‘India has excellent firepower down the order. Containing them for 14-15 overs was commendable, but some opportunities were missed and mistakes proved costly.
Aryan Dutt took 2 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs. Praising him, the captain said, ‘Full credit to Aryan. He has been in great form over the years and has given tough competition to the Indian batsmen. We remained competitive throughout the match.
India were 118/4 in 15 overs, but Shivam Dubey and Hardik Pandya batted brilliantly. The Netherlands team, which finished fourth in Group A, won 1 in 4 matches.
Edwards said, ‘We always learn something new after coming to India. Small grounds, flat pitches, loud crowds – everything is different. We performed well, but missed important moments. It is important to capitalize on such moments in a four-match tournament.
