India’s roar in the sea! Navy’s strength increased with INS Aridman and Taragiri
There has been another major increase in the strength of the Indian Navy. At a ceremony held in Visakhapatnam on Friday, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh formally inducted the country’s third indigenous nuclear-powered submarine INS Aridman into the Navy’s fleet.
The submarine is part of the Arihant class.
This submarine is part of the Arihant class and has been completely developed in the country under Project ATV. This achievement is being considered very important for India’s strategic capability. On this occasion, Rajnath Singh said that this is not just a word, but a symbol of the real power of the country.
During the same program, the Indian Navy also got another modern warship ‘Taragiri’. The induction of this frigate has come at a time when the strategic importance of the Indian Ocean region and especially India’s eastern seaboard is continuously increasing. Amidst India’s activeness in the Indo-Pacific region and changing security equations, this ship will further strengthen the strength of the Navy.
Taragiri is one of the advanced frigates built under Project 17A and is considered a great example of ‘Make in India’ initiative. This warship weighing about 6,670 tonnes is equipped with modern technology and advanced design. It has been built by Mumbai-based Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, which is one of the major shipyards in the country.
What is the specialty of the ship?
The specialty of this ship is its stealth design, due to which it can operate by avoiding enemy radar. Also, more than 75 percent indigenous material has been used in it, which shows India’s increasing technological self-reliance. More than 200 MSMEs have participated in this project, due to which employment opportunities have also increased in the country.
CODOG propulsion system has been installed in Taragiri, which enables it to operate at high speed and long range. It has state-of-the-art weapon systems, which include supersonic missiles, medium range air defense system and anti-submarine technology. Apart from this, this ship is also capable of playing an important role in humanitarian aid and disaster relief operations.
Overall, the induction of INS Aridman and Taragiri into the Navy is being considered as a step to take India’s maritime security and defense capability to new heights.
