New Delhi. There has been a major change in the top leadership of the country’s leading airline IndiGo Airlines. IndiGo CEO Peter Elbers has resigned. The airline says he has been relieved from his post with immediate effect. On Tuesday, the chief executive officer of the aviation company, Peter Elbers, resigned from his post. This major step has been taken at a time when the airline has recently gone through a serious ‘operational crisis’, which has raised serious questions about the level of management in India’s aviation sector.

This resignation of Peter Elbers comes after the worst operational crisis ever faced by the airline in the month of December. In the statement issued by the airline on Tuesday, it has been made clear that the resignation of Peter Elbers has become effective from March 10, 2026.
Rahul Bhatia will take command
To provide stability to the company in this challenging time, this important command has been given to the current Managing Director of IndiGo, Rahul Bhatia. Following the exit of Peter Albers, Rahul Bhatia will now take charge of the management of the company on an interim basis. The airline has officially confirmed that until the appointment of a new CEO or any further arrangements are made, Rahul Bhatia will oversee all the affairs and functioning of the company.
