Meanwhile, the aviation ministry has directed IndiGo to complete the refund process for the canceled flight tickets by Saturday evening. This means that the passengers get their ticket money back till December 7. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has asked IndiGo to complete the ticket refund process for passengers affected by the flight disruptions by 8 pm on Monday. It has also been said that the airline should ensure that all baggage left due to flight cancellation is delivered within the next 48 hours.

More than 400 flights canceled on Saturday

On December 5, over 1,000 flights of the country’s largest airline IndiGo were cancelled. Then on Saturday, December 6, the same situation continued. On Saturday, more than 400 flights were canceled at airports in several cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru, along with four major airports in the country. Any delay or non-compliance in the refund process will lead to immediate regulatory action, the ministry said.

What is Indigo’s official policy?

As per IndiGo’s official policy, if the flight is cancelled, delayed by an hour or more or delayed by more than two hours, passengers can reschedule for free or get a full refund. Passengers can manually select another flight or process a refund using the ‘Plan B’ online option. Bookings are made through travel agents and the agent has to be contacted. As per DGCH rules, passengers are entitled to compensation if the airline does not give advance notice of flight cancellation or missed connecting flight at least two weeks prior to departure.
