IndiGo Crisis: Brake on the arbitrariness of airlines, government fixed the air fare, Rs 7500 for 500 km, know the new ticket rates.

New Delhi. Modi Government has now taken a strict stance regarding IndiGo Crisis. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has issued several guidelines on Saturday to deal with this crisis. Indigo has been asked by the government to immediately return the money to the passengers. Along with this, the government also put a stop to the excessive increase in fares of other airlines. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has used its regulatory powers to ensure fair and reasonable fares on all affected routes. The government asked the airlines not to charge more than the fixed airfare.

Domestic airlines cannot charge passengers fares more than the limits mentioned below.

• Distance up to 500 km: Maximum fare Rs 7500

• Distance 500-1000 km: Maximum fare Rs 12000

• Distance 1000-1500 km: Maximum fare Rs 15000

• Distance more than 1500 km: Maximum fare Rs 18000

Government issued new guidelines

The statement issued by the government said that the above fare limits are exclusive of applicable user development charges, passenger service charges and taxes. These fare limits will not be applicable on Business Class and RCS flights. The government has said that the fare limits will remain in force until the fares are stabilized or the next order is issued. These fare limits will be applicable on all types of bookings, whether the ticket is purchased from the official website of the airline or from an online travel agent’s platform. Airlines will maintain ticket availability across all classes and, if necessary, consider increasing capacity in sectors where demand has surged.

The government has ordered that airlines will avoid sudden or unusual fare increases in sectors affected by the cancellations. Airlines will provide maximum possible assistance to affected passengers, including alternative flight options when possible. This order will come into effect with immediate effect.

Government asks Indigo to complete refund process for canceled flights by Sunday evening

With thousands of passengers being affected due to the disruption of IndiGo flights, the Ministry of Civil Aviation on Saturday directed the airline to complete the process of refund of tickets for canceled flights by Sunday evening. The government also asked to ensure that the left luggage of the passengers is delivered to them in the next two days.

Instructions given to take passengers’ luggage home

Additionally, airlines have been asked to ensure that no rescheduling charges are levied on passengers whose travel plans are canceled or affected. The ministry made it clear that in case of any delay in the refund process or non-compliance of rules, regulatory action will be taken immediately. The ministry also directed that airlines should ensure that the luggage of passengers left behind due to flight cancellation or delay is traced and delivered to them within the next 48 hours.

To ensure passenger convenience and grievance redressal, the Ministry directed IndiGo to set up dedicated passenger support and refund facilitation cells. The job of these sales will be to contact the affected passengers and ensure that they do not feel the need to follow up repeatedly for refunds and other travel arrangements. The ministry said the automatic refund system will remain active until operations are completely stabilized.

Indigo’s statement

A statement was issued by the airline on Saturday on the problems being faced in the operations of Indigo. In this statement, IndiGo said that the airline is working diligently to get its operations back on track across the network. IndiGo said that our teams are focused on stabilizing schedules, minimizing delays and helping customers during this time. The number of cancellations on Saturday came down to 850 flights, which is significantly less than yesterday. We are working towards reducing this number gradually over the next few days.
