Delhi. The engine of Indigo flight 6E 579 coming from Visakhapatnam to Delhi suddenly failed. The flight was suddenly landed at Delhi airport. All 160 passengers on board the plane are safe. Full emergency was imposed on Runway 28 of the airport for safe landing. Fire engines and ambulances were present around the runway before landing. According to the fire department, an emergency call came at 10.53 am on Saturday. The team was put on alert. However, the aircraft Boeing 737 landed safely at 10:59.

Indigo Airlines spokesperson said, Indigo flight (6E 579) coming from Visakhapatnam to Delhi encountered a technical snag before landing. As a safety precaution, the pilot immediately asked for permission to land. The plane landed safely at the airport. The plane is being investigated. The safety of passengers and crew is our biggest priority.

A total of 754 aircraft of six major airlines of the country were technically inspected from January 2025. Of these, recurring faults were identified in 377 aircraft. That is, the same defect occurred again and again, even if it had been fixed earlier.

Minister of State for Civil Aviation Muralidhar Mohol told in the Lok Sabha that DGCA conducted a large-scale investigation last year regarding security. During this period, 3890 surveillance inspections, 56 audits, 492 ramp checks and 84 foreign aircraft were inspected. 874 spot checks and 550 night surveillance were also conducted. Of the 267 aircraft of Air India Group, 191 were found to have repeated technical faults. After this it was Indigo’s turn. Its 405 aircraft were inspected. The same defect was found repeatedly in 148 of them till February 3 this year.
