IndiGo halts operations to 7 gulf destinations including Doha and Kuwait until March 28, 2026

India’s largest airline, IndiGo, has announced temporary adjustments to its Middle East operations as geopolitical tensions continue to impact aviation routes and regional airspace. The airline confirmed that it will operate 252 weekly flights to and from the Middle East between March 16 and March 28, 2026, while closely monitoring the evolving security situation.

The revised schedule comes amid ongoing instability in the region, including heightened tensions linked to the conflict involving Iran and the United States. Airlines across the globe have been reassessing flight paths due to airspace restrictions, rising insurance premiums, and operational uncertainties.

Under the adjusted plan, IndiGo will operate 126 weekly flights to and from Saudi Arabia, 98 weekly flights connecting India with the United Arab Emirates, and 28 weekly flights to and from Oman. The airline said the move is aimed at balancing operational safety while ensuring that essential connectivity between India and key Middle Eastern destinations remains intact.

Flights will continue to operate to major regional hubs including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Muscat, Madinah, Riyadh, and Jeddah. Daily services from cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Kochi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Calicut will ensure continued passenger movement for both business and leisure travel.

Despite maintaining a large portion of its network, IndiGo has confirmed that services to several destinations will remain suspended during this period. Flights to Doha, Kuwait, Bahrain, Dammam, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Sharjah will not operate until March 28, 2026, subject to further review depending on the security environment.

According to the airline, these changes are necessary due to a combination of geopolitical risks, airspace limitations, airport operational constraints, and steadily increasing fuel and insurance costs. The company emphasised that maintaining the safety of passengers, crew members, and aircraft remains its top priority.

IndiGo also noted that travellers departing from Middle Eastern cities will still be able to connect seamlessly to numerous destinations across India through its extensive domestic network.

To support passengers affected by disruptions, the airline stated it is prepared to operate additional ad-hoc flights if required, particularly for stranded travellers. Customers have been advised to check the latest flight schedules and travel advisories on IndiGo’s official website and social media channels before planning their journeys.
