The 2025 Indonesia Masters Super 500 is all set to commence with the qualifying rounds at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The tournament will mark the first Super 500 event of the 2025 badminton season after two thrilling weeks of action at the Malaysia Open Super 1000 and the India Open Super 750.
The men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have been India’s best performers in the year so far with two semi-final appearances in as many weeks and they will hope to continue their good run in Indonesia.
Lakshya Sen, meanwhile, will be eyeing to register his first win of the new year following two first-round exits in Malaysia and India.
PV Sindhu, who returned to action last week in front of her home crowd, too will be in action in women’s singles.
Kidambi Srikanth, who gave the India Open a skip after a late entry into the main draw, is expected to return to action at the Indonesia Masters Super 500.
He will have to go through the qualifying round, where he is set to face Kiran George, who made a stunning run into the quarter-finals in the India Open Super 750 last week.
Priyanshu Rajawat will also look to put the India Open disappointment behind his back when he takes the Istora Senayan. HS Prannoy is expected to give the event a miss.
Moreover, India’s best-ever ranked women’s doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand are expected to be missing in action with their names not featuring in the list.
Olympians Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto will lead the charge in the women’s doubles discipline for India. Crasto will also pair up with Dhruv Kapila in the mixed doubles.
