Indonesia Mount Merapi Volcano Eruption: On Friday, hot lava came out from Mount Merapi, located near the densely populated city of Yogyakarta in Yogyakarta Province of Indonesia. According to reports, the volcano erupted five times, with lava flows reaching 1,900 meters high. This prompted the country's Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation to issue a warning for the safety of nearby residents.

Potential hazards of a volcanic eruption include hot clouds and lava flows. For areas south and south-west of the crater, these dangers can extend up to 7 km, while for areas south-east of the volcano, the danger zone reaches 3 km.
Monitoring data indicate that Mount Merapi continues to produce magma, posing a threat of hot cloud emissions to affected areas. Residents have been advised to avoid activities in hazardous areas and to remain alert to possible lava floods and hot clouds during heavy rains. According to the report, Mount Merapi, situated at an altitude of 2,968 meters, is one of the 127 active volcanoes in Indonesia.
