Indore Contaminated Water: Indore in Madhya Pradesh has achieved the distinction of being the cleanest city in the country for eight consecutive times, but in this city, eight people have died due to drinking contaminated water, while more than 100 people are said to be hospitalized. Three officers have been punished in this case. In which two officers have been suspended and the service of one engineer has been terminated.

According to the information, after the death of 3 people due to contaminated water in Bhagirathpura, Indore, the BJP government of Madhya Pradesh has announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased. According to many media reports, 8 people have died unofficially due to drinking contaminated water, but this has not been confirmed administratively. These deaths occurred between 25 and 30 December. The issue began on December 25, when people complained of strange taste and smell in the water supplied by the municipal corporation. This incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of drinking water in the city.

Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava confirmed the death of three people due to diarrhoea, but residents claimed that five people, including four women, had died after falling ill. CM Mohan Yadav expressed grief over the deaths and announced that the state government will give Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased and bear the medical expenses of the affected people. Residents alleged that they and their family members fell ill after drinking Narmada river water supplied from the municipal corporation’s tap connection. At the same time, Congress State President Jitu Patwari has targeted the state government.

Jitu Patwari wrote in Because of not providing it, the lives of eight people are lost? Is this your responsibility? Do you want to give away the lives of millions of voters by giving them poisonous water?

Negligence will not be tolerated: CM Mohan Yadav

Taking cognizance of this matter, CM Mohan Yadav wrote in X Post, “Taking very seriously the incident of citizens getting infected due to contaminated water in Bhagirathpura area of Indore, the concerned zonal officer zone number 4, assistant engineer and assistant engineer in-charge PHE have been suspended with immediate effect and the sub-engineer in-charge PHE has been separated from service with immediate effect. An inquiry committee of senior officers has been constituted to investigate the incident. There is no risk of any kind of harm to the health of the people. Negligence will not be tolerated.”
