Indore Digital Case: Digital arrest cases are showing no sign of stopping. The latest case has come to light from Indore, Madhya Pradesh. This time the thugs have made a software engineer a victim. It is alleged that the 35 year old software engineer was kept in a hotel room by thugs in the name of 'digital arrest'. This incident came to light when the victim's family informed the police about his missing. After this the police freed him from the clutches of the thugs.

According to the media agency report, the police started investigating the case. After this, when they got clues, on the basis of which the police reached a hotel room. Here it was revealed that the victim was talking on video call to a person, who was in police uniform. The man, posing as a law enforcement officer, was threatening to have the victim 'digitally arrested' under a 'false criminal case' registered in Mumbai.

Engineer trapped in such a trap

The victim told the police that this entire incident started with a phone call from a number in Dubai. Through the call, he was forced to book a hotel room and stay there. The thugs locked him in the hotel room and threatened him and asked him to give money.

This way lives and property were saved

Chandrakant Patel, in-charge of Vijay Nagar police station, said that if the police had not arrived on time, the victim could have lost Rs 26 lakh. Police reached the spot and took the victim out safely, confiscated his mobile phone and started investigating the case.

This is how digital arrest happens

'Digital arrest' is a new method of cyber fraud, in which fraudsters pose as law enforcement officers through video or audio calls. They threaten the victims by implicating them in false cases and force them to stay locked in hotel rooms. After this, money is demanded in exchange for their “release”. Police have appealed to the people to be alert on phone calls coming from any unknown number and immediately report suspicious activities.
