Bumper recruitment of 21 thousand freshers: Salary up to Rs 21 lakh, know who can apply

Infosys 2026 Recruitment: Infosys, one of the country’s largest tech companies, has increased the entry level salary of freshers. The company is now offering packages of up to Rs 21 lakh per annum to freshers for specialized technology roles. This is one of the highest salaries that freshers get in the Indian IT sector.

According to a Bussiness report, Infosys is preparing for an off-campus hiring drive for students graduating in 2025. The company will recruit 21 thousand freshers by next year. They will be given jobs on packages ranging from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 21 lakh.

Who will get how much salary?

The company has divided the salary structure into four slabs according to the role. This hiring is mainly happening for posts like ‘Specialist Programmer’ and ‘Digital Specialist Engineer’.

  • Specialist Programmer L3 (Trainee): Freshers selected for this role will get an annual package of Rs 21 lakh.
  • Specialist Programmer L2: Candidates selected at this level will be given a package of Rs 16 lakh.
  • Specialist Programmer L1: Freshers of this category will get an annual salary of Rs 11 lakh.
  • Digital Specialist Engineer (Trainee): A package of Rs 7 lakh is being offered to freshers for this role.

Who can apply?

Students with BE, BTech, ME, MTech, MCA and Integrated MSc degrees can apply for these roles. The company is mainly giving opportunities to the students of Computer Science, Information Technology (IT) and Electronics (ECE, EEE) branches.

Focus on AI, hence increased salary

Infosys Group’s CHRO Shaji Mathew said that the reason behind offering higher salary is the company’s ‘AI-first strategy’. “We are doing early-career hiring both on-campus and off-campus. We have expanded opportunities in the Specialist Programmer track, where the package goes up to Rs 21 lakh,” he said. The company needs skilled professionals to work on new technology and artificial intelligence.

CEO salary increased by 835% in 10 years, that of freshers only 45%

Low starting salaries for engineering graduates have been a matter of concern for a long time. According to an analysis, the median salary of CEOs of IT companies has increased by 835% between financial years 2012 and 2022. It increased from Rs 3.37 crore to Rs 31.5 crore.

At the same time, during the same period, the salary of freshers increased by only 45%. It increased from Rs 2.45 lakh to Rs 3.55 lakh. In such a situation, this new offer of Infosys is being considered a big relief for freshers.

Target to provide jobs to 21,000 freshers this year

While on one hand there are reports of layoffs in many tech companies, on the other hand Infosys has increased the pace of hiring. The company’s CFO Jayesh Sanghrajka had told in October that in the first half of the financial year 2026, the company has given jobs to 12,000 freshers. This year the overall target of the company is to hire 21,000 freshers.

Infosys has increased the number of employees for the fifth consecutive quarter. In the second quarter (Q2), the company added 8,203 new employees, taking the total workforce to 3,31,991.
