Injury concerns for Jasprit Bumrah? MI fast bowler seen at CoE ahead of IPL 2026
As IPL 2026 approaches, questions regarding Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness have emerged following his visit to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence. While the Mumbai Indians squad has already begun their pre-season training at Wankhede Stadium, Bumrah’s absence has raised concerns. It is still unclear whether the pacer is dealing with an injury or simply going through a standard fitness check-up after a demanding international schedule.
Bumrah was a standout performer in India’s victorious 2026 T20 World Cup campaign, particularly in the final where he registered career-best figures. His exceptional performance played a major role in India winning their third T20 World Cup, making history as the first team to achieve the feat.
As the Mumbai Indians chase their sixth IPL title, Bumrah’s availability is vital. Fans are hoping for an update on his fitness after his visit to the CoE.
Mumbai’s head coach Mahela Jayawardene has already confirmed that players who participated in the T20 World Cup final have been given extended rest before resuming training.
“Winning the IPL is always our goal each year, but I understand it’s a long road ahead. Our pre-season will kick off as it always does. We will focus on hard work and bringing the new players into the fold. As for our T20 World Cup players, we’ve given them some extra time off, and they’ll join us next weekend,” Jayawardene said.
“The overseas players have also gone back home, but they’ll rejoin us soon. They’ll have a solid week of training with us before the first match,” he added.
Since his debut with Mumbai in 2013, Bumrah has been a central figure in their success, playing an instrumental role in franchise’s title victories. His pace, accuracy, and consistency with the ball have been key to his team’s achievements. Even during IPL 2025, when Mumbai’s batting struggled, Bumrah’s remarkable form stood out, claiming 18 wickets in just 12 matches and maintaining a remarkable economy rate of 6.67.
