Instagram and Facebook Update- Government becomes strict regarding Instagram and Facebook, label necessary on AI posts
Friends, as we all know that in today’s modern era, social media has become a part of our lives and with the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI), concerns about deepfakes and misleading content have increased a lot. To address these challenges, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has introduced new rules aimed at making online platforms more secure and transparent. Let us know the complete details
Mandatory labeling of AI content
Under the new guidelines, all AI-derived content—including photos, videos, and audio—must be clearly labeled. Now the platform will have to ensure that users can easily identify whether any content has been created using artificial intelligence or not. The move is aimed at reducing the spread of fake and misleading information online.
Strict time limit for removing content
The government has also set strict deadlines for removing illegal or harmful content. Social media platforms will have to take action within three hours of receiving instructions from a court or authorized government agency. This rule has been specifically made to prevent the rapid spread of deepfakes, misinformation and other objectionable content.
Strict action against harmful and misleading content
MeitY has directed platforms to implement advanced technical safeguards to prevent misuse of AI. Strict action will be taken against content that is obscene or misleading, or uses someone’s identity without consent.
