Instagram’s ‘Instants’ app is coming to kill Snapchat! Photos will disappear as soon as you see them, know the specialty

Lucknow/ Tech Desk: Meta is preparing to make a big bang in the world of social media. Instagram is now testing a new standalone app called ‘Instants’ for its users. This app will be completely based on ‘real-time’ and ‘raw’ content, which is being seen as a big challenge for Snapchat and BeReal.

Pretense is over, now only reality will be visible

While people often post photos on Instagram after filters and heavy editing, the concept of ‘Instants’ is exactly the opposite. Some of the main features of this app are as follows:

-No Gallery Access: In this app you will not be able to upload old photos from the phone’s gallery. You have to click the live photo or video from the camera of the app itself.

-Self-disappearing content: Photos shared in this will be viewable only once and will be automatically deleted after a maximum of 24 hours.

-No Filters: To maintain authenticity, there are no advanced filters or editing tools provided in it, you can just add light text.

Privacy and testing in selected countries

Meta has currently started testing this app in select countries like Italy and Spain. It is also listed on the Google Play Store, but at the moment it is not available to everyone. The special thing is that on this you will be able to share content only with your ‘mutual followers’ (those whom you follow and who follow you).

Why was there a need for this new app?

Actually, the craze of sharing photos instantly without any artificiality or pretense is increasing among young users. Instagram’s main feed is now heavily loaded with ads and algorithms. In such a situation, through ‘Instants’ Meta wants to provide a platform where people can share real life moments with their friends without any pressure.

1. Limited Sharing: Content will be limited to specific friends or mutual followers only.
2. Sync Feature: The friend lists of Instagram and Instants will remain linked.
3. Hybrid Testing: The company is testing it as a separate app as well as a feature within Instagram.

In the changing era of social media, ‘Instants’ will decide whether ‘perfect photo’ or ‘perfect moment’ will be more important in the future.
