Intensive action against illegal LPG use and refilling, raids at four locations; 44 cylinders recovered
Kanpur. As part of the intensive campaign being run against illegal use and refilling of LPG gas in the district, the administration raided four locations simultaneously on Thursday. A total of 44 gas cylinders were recovered in the action and the process of registering a case against the four accused under Section 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act 1955 was started. This campaign has effectively attacked the organized network of illegal gas trade.
Under the direction of Additional District Magistrate (Civil Supplies) Rajesh Kumar, a joint team of the District Supply Department, on the information of the informer, raided Urgent Repairing Centre, New Sweety Kitchen Center and Swati Kitchen Center in New Sabzi Mandi area located in Lal Bangla. District Supply Officer Rakesh Kumar said that four domestic cylinders and Petromax refilling items were recovered from the Urgent Repairing Centre.
Ten small commercial and seven domestic cylinders, refilling equipment and electronic weighing machine were seized from New Sweety Kitchen Centre. At the same time, 13 domestic and four commercial cylinders were seized from Swati Kitchen Centre. Thus, a total of 24 domestic, 10 small commercial and four big commercial cylinders were recovered from the three places.
In the same sequence, during the raid on Krishna Sweet House located in New Block, it was found that domestic gas cylinders were being commercially used for making Paneer. Six gas cylinders were recovered from the spot, which included both domestic and commercial grade cylinders. No valid records related to gas usage were presented during the investigation, which is clearly a violation of the rules.
District Supply Officer said that commercial use and illegal refilling of domestic gas cylinders is a violation of LPG (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order-2000, which is a punishable offense under Section 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act 1955. The recovered cylinders have been handed over to the concerned gas agency for legal action.
District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh said that the supply of domestic gas cylinders is continuing smoothly in the district. He appealed to the general public not to pay attention to rumors and not book gas cylinders unnecessarily. He also clarified that the campaign against illegal use and refilling of domestic gas will continue and strict action will be ensured against the persons involved in it.
