International Day of Education: Know history, significance and need for celebrating

New Delhi: Getting an education is everyone’s right. But today they are being deprived of education for a number of other reasons, including poverty. It is possible to gain status and respect in society only if a person is well educated. Education plays an important role in the progress of a country. If you are deprived of education you will have to fight all your life. Thus, the International Day of Education is being celebrated with the aim of conveying the importance of education to all.

History of the International Day of Education

To celebrate the International Day of Education, on December 3, 2018, the United Nations General Assembly also indicated the agreement of Nigeria as well as 58 other Member States to the resolution. Since then, every year on January 24, International Education Day has been celebrated.

Significance of International Education Day

The main purpose of celebrating International Education Day is to raise awareness of the importance of education in the world. Peace and development are the most important things in human life. The only way to achieve it is through the same education. According to various statistics, millions of children around the world are still not going to school.

While there are millions of children going to school, there is a severe shortage in quality education. Thus a large number of children are not receiving a proper education. This day is significant in order to find solutions to all these problems. On this special day, campaigns, workshops and awareness programs will be held to highlight the importance of education.
