International drug racket busted, mastermind of Rs 13 thousand crore game caught

New Delhi : The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested an important accused, exposing a big drug trafficking network spread at the international level. This network is said to be involved in drug smuggling worth about Rs 13 thousand crores. Special Cell has arrested an accused named Tilak Prasad Sharma from Sikkim, who was playing an important role in this gang. Tilak Prasad Sharma, 35, is a resident of East Pendam in Sikkim and a non-bailable warrant was issued against him from a Delhi court.

Arrest made from Sikkim, inter-state operation
According to police officials, a special inter-state operation was launched to arrest the accused. After tracing the location of Tilak Prasad Sharma, who was absconding for a long time, the Special Cell team arrested him from Sikkim with the help of the local police. After obtaining transit remand from the court, the accused has been brought to Delhi, where he is being interrogated thoroughly.

Network exposed due to recovery of thousands of kilos of drugs
The case involves the massive seizure of 1,290 kilograms of cocaine and mephedrone, as well as 40 kilograms of Thai marijuana. Investigation has revealed that the links of this smuggling network extend to Pakistan, Britain, Malaysia, Thailand, United Arab Emirates and India. So far, 17 accused have been arrested in this case, while many foreign handlers are still out of the reach of the law.

used to work as a courier
Investigation has also revealed that Tilak Prasad Sharma used to play the role of courier in this international network. Many times he used to bring Thai marijuana to India through suitcase from Thailand. After reaching Delhi, this drug was handed over to a person named Himanshu, who is said to be a close associate of another accused in the network, Tushar Goyal. Police have also recovered Thai marijuana packed in two suitcases from a warehouse located in Mahipalpur area.

Routes were changed to avoid arrest
According to the police, when some key members of the gang were arrested in Delhi in October 2024, the cartel leader instructed Tilak Sharma to change the route of the journey. Instead of coming to India directly from Thailand, he was asked to come to Sri Lanka, then Nepal and then to India so that he could avoid the attention of security agencies.

Hiding in India after escaping from Nepal
Meanwhile, the customs department caught him with Thai marijuana at an airport in Nepal and he was lodged in the jail of Kathmandu. However, during the unrest in Nepal, he managed to escape from jail and later returned to India illegally. After coming to India, the accused kept changing locations continuously and started living underground.

Further investigation continues
The Special Cell of Delhi Police is now interrogating the accused and gathering information about other members of the network, funding channels and foreign handlers. Police say that more arrests may be made in this case in the coming days. This action is being considered a major success against international drug trafficking.
