International Film Festival started for the first time in Delhi, more than 125 films will be screened.

Delhi news: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday raised the curtain of the International Film Festival Delhi (IFFD) 2026, to be organized for the first time in the capital, at the Delhi Secretariat. Delhi Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra was also present on this occasion. The Chief Minister described this as a historic opportunity towards making Delhi a global cultural and cinematic centre.

Celebrating the creative power of the capital

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that this festival is not just an event of films, but a celebration of Delhi’s cultural heritage, creative potential and modern thinking. This will be such a public festival in which every Delhiite will be able to participate and world cinema will reach the common citizens. Additionally, local filmmakers and technicians will get an international platform and opportunities to interact with national and global talent. The festival will be held from 25 to 31 March 2026 at iconic venues in New Delhi and will provide Delhi with new opportunities for film tourism, talent development, creative industries and employment generation.

The Chief Minister said that as per the film policy of Delhi Government, Delhi is being made an attractive destination for shooting with single-window facility, production support and industry cooperation. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that this festival will give a new direction to the cultural landscape of Delhi and will give the capital a new identity on the global cultural map.
