According to Hong Kong news outlet The StandardChung disclosed during an interview with East Weeklya magazine under Sing Tao News Corporationthat she has been dating Ma for nine years. Her remark expressing indifference to being labeled a mistress has drawn sharp criticism from netizens.
Chung recalled meeting Ma at a gala nearly a decade ago, sharing that she grew up in the suburban district of Tai Po in Hong Kong and had aspired to achieve wealth from a young age.
In another interview with Hong Kong media outlet HK01as reported by Dimsum DailyChung stated: “Mistresses are often wealthier than wives, money is more important than marriage.”
Following her revelation, her social media accounts have been flooded with criticism.
“[You’re] so proud to tell the whole world about being a mistress,” one Instagram user wrote under Chung’s post. “You probably haven’t had much education—seems like you don’t even know how to write the word ‘shame.’”
Reports suggest that earlier this month, Chung and Ma celebrated their nine-year anniversary at a luxury store, where Chung allegedly purchased numerous high-end items, including handbags, sneakers, and cosmetics, within half an hour. They later dined at a Western restaurant.
Throughout their relationship, Ma has reportedly showered Chung with extravagant gifts, including cars and properties valued at over HK$100 million (US$12.8 million).
Ma comes from a distinguished family, which is known as one of Hong Kong’s “Five Great Tycoons” of the 1960s. He has been serving as the chairman of Tai Sang Bank, a licensed private bank in Hong Kong, since 2019. He has been married to Lisa Kung Ma for over three decades.
