About 60% of India’s internet traffic goes to Europe via Mumbai. This route passes through sensitive areas like the Red Sea and the Strait of Hormuz, where there is a war-like situation at present. The remaining 40% traffic goes towards Singapore and the Pacific Ocean via Chennai. This means that a large part of India is dependent on the same region where tension is at its peak.

Experts say that the possibility of complete shutdown of the Internet is less. The Internet network works like a network, where if one path is blocked, data is sent through another path. But if 17 vital cables passing through the Red Sea are damaged, there could be a “traffic jam” Such a situation may arise, due to which the speed will slow down considerably.

At the same time, Indian companies like Airtel and Tata Communications are also worried, because their global network depends on these cables.
