BBK Electronics-backed Vivo’s Y29 5G stood second with sales of 47 lakh units during the period. At the same time, with 33 lakh sales, iPhone 15 also remained included in the top 5 list of best-selling phones in India. Apple smartphones, whose prices start at Rs 47,000 for the iPhone 15, are more than three times the price of Vivo’s best-selling handset (Rs 14,000).
Demand for expensive smartphones is increasing in India
The report said that this success of Apple reflects the changing customer behavior. Earlier, most of the people in India used to buy only entry-level and mid-range phones, but now the demand for expensive smartphones is increasing. Apple has adopted a strategy to reduce dependence on China by increasing local manufacturing in India. Recently the company opened three new Apple Stores in Bengaluru, Pune and Noida, taking its total to five stores in India.
Every fifth iPhone is manufactured in India
Apple has also provided facilities like no-cost EMI, cashback and bank schemes to the customers, which has made it easier to buy expensive phones of the company. The report also said that Apple exported iPhones worth $ 2 billion from India in November, which is the largest ever. According to the company’s filing, Apple India hit a record $9 billion in domestic sales in fiscal year 2025 and every fifth iPhone was manufactured or assembled in India.
