Talking about the specifications of iPhone 17e, it has a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, whose peak brightness is 1200 nits, which is the same as the iPhone 16e. However, Apple has upgraded the screen protection to Ceramic Shield 2, which is claimed to offer three times better scratch resistance than the Ceramic Shield used in the iPhone 16e. The device continues to use an aluminum frame and comes with IP68-rated dust and water resistance. The main difference is on the inside. The iPhone 17e is powered by Apple’s A19 chip, which is also found in the standard iPhone 17. It has neural accelerators for better AI performance, but it has one less GPU core compared to the 5-core GPU in the regular iPhone 17.
Apple has also given its new C1X cellular modem in the iPhone 17e. The company claims that it is twice as fast as the C1 modem used in the iPhone 16e. It is also being said that it uses 30 percent less power than the Qualcomm Snapdragon X75 5G modem found in the iPhone 16 Pro, which improves battery efficiency. However, despite these improvements, it does not support mmWave 5G and is limited to sub-6GHz connectivity.
The device has a 4005mAh battery, which Apple says can last a whole day. Credit goes to Apple Silicon, the new C1X modem, and iOS 26’s advanced power management. It also supports MagSafe and Qi2 fast wireless charging up to 15W, which is another upgrade over the iPhone 16e. The iPhone 17e has the same camera setup as the iPhone 16e. It has a 48MP Fusion rear camera and a 12MP front camera, both of which support 4K video recording.
Other key features include messages from satellite, emergency SOS from satellite to contact emergency services, sharing location from satellite in the Find My app, and crash detection, which can automatically alert emergency services in case of a serious car accident.
