Mumbai, 29 March. The plight of bowlers was seen for the second consecutive day in the most exciting cricket festival of the Indian sports world i.e. Tata Indian Premier League (IPL-19). In this sequence, amid the rain of runs, five-time former champions Mumbai Indians (MI) dwarfed the target of 221 runs of three-time former winners Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in front of the home crowd on Sunday night and achieved a convincing victory by six wickets with five balls remaining.

Rahane and Angkrish had taken KKR to 220 runs.
KKR, forced to bat first at the Wankhede Stadium, had scored a huge score of 220 runs for four wickets with the help of quick fifties from captain Ajinkya Rahane (67 runs, 40 balls, five sixes, three fours) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (51 runs, 29 balls, two sixes, six fours).
Richelton-Rohit’s brilliant century partnership in Mumbai’s victory
But Mumbai Indians were given such a great start by opener Ryan Rickelton (81 runs, 43 balls, eight sixes, four fours) and former captain Rohit Sharma (78 runs, 38 balls, six sixes, six fours) that there is no question. The result of a stupendous century partnership of 148 runs on 72 balls between these two was that despite the fall of some wickets, the hosts scored 224 runs for four wickets in 19.1 overs.

Mumbai Indians started with victory after 14 years
The special thing is that for the first time since 2012, Mumbai Indians started an IPL season with a win. In other words, this is the first time in 14 years that Mumbai Indians won their first match of the season. In this sequence, Mumbai team successfully chased its biggest target in IPL.
Suryakumar Yadav entered as an impact player
Interestingly, Mumbai Indians fielded T20 World Cup winning Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav as an impact player in this match, hence Rickelton and Rohit started the innings. But both of them picked up the pace from the very beginning and hit the opposition bowlers hard and added 80 runs in the powerplay itself.

Rohit Sharma, who scored his 50th fifty in the IPL, finally became the victim of Vaibhav Arora (1-52) in the 12th over, while Surya (16 runs, eight balls, three fours) was not allowed to go far by Karthik Tyagi (1-43). On the other hand, Rickelton fell just short of a century and was run out in the 16th over. After this, Tilak Verma (20 runs, 14 balls, four fours) and captain Hardik Pandya (18 not out, 11 balls, three fours) took the team closer to the destination with a partnership of 31 runs. However, Tilak was replaced by Sunil Narine (1-30) in the 19th over. But in the last over, Naman Dheer (five not out, two balls, one four) hit the winning four on the very first ball of Anukul Roy.

60 run partnership between Raghuvanshi and Rinku
After that Agnikrish Raghuvanshi (51 runs, 29 balls, two sixes, six fours) took over the responsibility of the attack. In the 14th over, Thakur took his third victim in the form of Rahane (3-145). At present, Raghuvanshi took the team beyond 200 with a partnership of 60 runs in 30 balls with Rinku Singh (33 not out, 21 balls, four fours). However, later this score also paled in front of Mumbai.
