Patidar and Virat also scored half centuries along with Phil Salt.
Apart from Salt, RCB, who got the chance to bat first, scored a mountain-like score of 240 runs for four wickets with half-centuries from captain Rajat Patidar (53 runs, 20 balls, five sixes, four fours) and former captain Virat Kohli (50 runs, 38 balls, one six, five fours). In reply, despite the stormy efforts of Sherfane Rutherford (71 not out, 31 balls, nine sixes, one four), the host team could reach 222 runs for five wickets.

Interestingly, the Bengaluru team has scored more than 200 runs in all the four matches played so far in the current season. In this sequence, today he also achieved the second highest score of this session. On March 11, RCB had scored 250 runs for three wickets against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at home, which is the highest score so far in the current season.

Bengaluru team jumps to third place with third win
With this strong performance, RCB has gained six points from its third win in four matches and moved up to third place in the points table behind the two so far unbeatable teams – Rajasthan Royals (eight points) and Punjab Kings (seven points). This was Mumbai Indians’ third consecutive defeat after defeating Kolkata Knight Riders in their first match at home and they are in eighth place with just two points from four matches.

Rohit has a muscle strain and Kohli has an ankle problem.
The atmosphere of tension in this exciting match can be easily gauged from the fact that there were many wides and no-balls in both the innings and many reviews were taken, due to which the match ended almost 1.5 hour later than scheduled. Two legends of Indian cricket also had to seek medical help while batting. Among these, during the Mumbai innings, Rohit Sharma had to be retired due to thigh muscle strain, while during the RCB innings, Virat Kohli got treated for an ankle problem.

A stormy partnership of 120 runs in 65 balls between Salt and Kohli.
Currently, if we look at RCB’s innings, ‘Player of the Match’ Salt showed a stormy style from the very beginning and made a partnership of 120 runs in 65 balls with Kohli for the first wicket. During this period, 71 runs were added in the powerplay. When Shardul Thakur (1-32) broke the partnership by returning Salt in the 11th over, Patidar took charge of the attack.

Patidar scored his fastest half-century in IPL
Patidar’s aggressiveness can be easily gauged from the fact that he scored his fastest half-century in the IPL, for which he played just 17 balls, which included four fours and five sixes. His partnership of 65 runs with Kohli in 23 balls ended in the 15th over, when Kohli was dismissed by Hardik Pandya (1-39) soon after completing his second fifty of the season.

Rohit made a partnership of 57 runs with Rickelton before retiring hurt.
For Mumbai Indians, who were chasing a tough target, Rohit Sharma (19 runs, 13 balls, one six, two fours) and Ryan Rickelton (37 runs, 22 balls, three sixes, three fours) had added 57 runs in 32 balls. However, Rohit was facing a lot of trouble due to muscle strain during this period, due to which he retired hurt in the sixth over.

After this, Suyyash Sharma (2-47) gave two big blows to Mumbai Indians in the form of Rickelton and Tilak Verma (one run) in his very first over. With this, there was silence in Wankhede Stadium while RCB supporters were dancing happily and shouting slogans of ‘RCB’.
The opposition bowlers did not allow even Surya and Hardik to open up much.
Although Suryakumar Yadav (32 runs, 22 balls, five fours) and captain Hardik Pandya (40 runs, 22 balls, one six, six fours) tried to control the situation with a partnership of 47 runs, but the opposition bowlers did not allow much opening up. In this sequence, Krunal Pandya (1-26) disappointed Surya while Hardik Naman Dheer (one run) became the victim of Jacob Duffy (1-58) and Rasikh Salam (1-23) respectively in consecutive overs (5-154).

Rutherford’s partnership of 68 runs with Santner in 28 balls was meaningless
At that time, Mumbai Indians had an almost impossible target of 87 runs in 27 balls. Although Rutherford tried his best to keep Santner (eight not out, six balls, one four) at one end and hit a flurry of sixes and also made an unbroken partnership of 68 runs in 28 balls, but his team remained 19 runs away from the target.
