Lucknow Super Giants, owned by Sanjiv Goenka, had retained uncapped batsman Ayush Badoni, star wicketkeeper batsman Nicholas Pooran, spinner Ravi Bishnoi, fast bowler Mayank Yadav and uncapped fast bowler Mohsin Khan before the mega auction of IPL 2025.

After which, when he entered the mega auction, he spent Rs 27 crores on Rishabh Pant. Due to which it is now being said that Pant will now take over the captaincy of Lucknow Super Giants franchise in place of KL Rahul.
