NEW DELHI New Delhi: BCCI has told IPL franchises that next year the Indian Premier League will be held from March 14 to May 25. Also, it has fixed similar dates for 2026 and 2027. The BCCI has decided to include injured England fast bowler Joffra Archer, Indian-origin American fast bowler Saurabh Netwalkar and Mumbai's uncapped wicketkeeper batsman Hardik Tamor in the two-day mega player auction to be held in Jeddah from Sunday. In its message sent to the franchises, the board has said that the dates for the next three seasons are being shared together to help the franchises plan for the player auction. The 2026 edition of the tournament begins on March 15 and its grand finale is scheduled for May 31.

The 2027 edition will once again begin on March 14 with the final taking place on May 30. All three finals will be held on Sunday. BCCI had planned to increase the number of matches in the IPL to ensure that it lasts for one and a half weeks and looking at the windows set aside, it seems that the number of matches in the league will increase Archer did not feature in the IPL this year and his game in the 2023 edition was cut short due to an elbow injury.

Netrawalkar was one of the breakout stars of the T20 World Cup held in the USA earlier this year, putting in impressive performances that were crucial in his team advancing to the Super 8. The former India Under-19 player, who played in the Ranji Trophy Also played for Mumbai, moved to USA to pursue computer engineering and is currently working at Oracle. His exclusion from the auction list at the expense of Unmukt Chand, another player who went to the US from India, had raised eyebrows as Chand was not part of the US team in the T20 World Cup.
