Mumbai Indians' bowling coach, who made India world champion, will help in winning the trophy

Mumbai: Mumbai Indians (MI), which has won the Indian Premier League title five times, has selected a new bowling coach for its next season IPL 2025. Mumbai Indians franchise has announced the appointment of former Indian cricketer and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey as the bowling coach.

MI issued a statement on Tuesday saying that Paras will work with current bowling coach and Sri Lankan icon Lasith Malinga for the team. “Mumbai Indians today announced the return and appointment of Paras Mhambrey as bowling coach, who will work alongside existing bowling coach Lasith Malinga as part of the coaching team under head coach Mahela Jayawardene.”

Paras was previously part of the coaching team of Mumbai Indians, leading the team to IPL 2013, Champions League T20 (2011, 2013), runner-up finish (2010) and two more IPL playoff appearances.

Paras Mhambrey's last stint was as the bowling coach of the Indian men's cricket team, which culminated with the T20 World Cup victory earlier this year. He was working as bowling coach in the Indian men's cricket team since 2021.

Paras Mhambre's journey

Between 1996–1998, Paras played two Tests and three ODIs for India, taking a total of 5 wickets. Notably, Paras is a medium pace bowler who played for Mumbai from 1992–2003, taking 284 wickets in 91 first-class matches and 111 List A wickets in 83 games.

Jayawardene is the head coach

Recently, MI announced the appointment of Mahela Jayawardene as the head coach for the next season, a post he previously held from 2017 to 2022. He replaces South African legend Mark Boucher, who coached the franchise for two seasons.

MI finished at the bottom last season, where they could manage only 4 wins and 10 losses under the captaincy of returning star Hardik Pandya.
