IPL 2025: Mumbai Indians enter play-offs after defeating Delhi Capitals Gujarati

Mumbai: The 63rd match of IPL 2025 was played between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at Wankhede Stadium. With the help of Suryakumar Yadav’s unbeaten half-century of 73 runs and three wickets each from Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Santner, MI registered a big 59-run win over DC and thus qualified for the playoffs of the tournament.

After losing the toss and electing to bat first, Mumbai Indians scored 180 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs. While chasing the target of 181 runs, Delhi Capitals had a very bad start. The team lost its first three wickets in the power play itself. Opener KL Rahul (11), captain Faf du Plessis (6) and wicketkeeper-batsman Abhishek Porel (6) were all out cheaply. Fourth order batsmen Sameer Rizvi (39) and Vipraj Nigam (20) tried to stabilize the innings but failed to take the team closer to victory. Apart from this, only Ashutosh Sharma could score 18 runs. The entire team was all out after scoring 121 runs in the stipulated 20 overs.

Mitchell Santner and Jasprit Bumrah took the maximum three wickets each for Mumbai Indians. Apart from him, Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, Will Jacques and Karn Sharma got one success each. Batting first, Mumbai openers Rickelton (25) and Rohit Sharma (5) started the innings. At number three, Will Jacques scored 21 runs. Number four Suryakumar Yadve played stormy innings. He scored 73 unbeaten runs in 43 balls, which included seven fours and four sixes. Tilak Verma contributed 27 runs to the team’s score. Sukani Hardik Pandya (3) was out cheaply on the bowling of Mukesh Kumar. In the end, Naman Dheer remained unbeaten after scoring a quick 24 runs in 8 balls. Mukesh Kumar took the maximum of two wickets for Delhi Capitals. Meanwhile, Dushmantha Chameera, Mustafizur and Kuldeep Yadav got one success each.
