Punjab Kings (PBKS) has announced its new captain for the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025). This announcement was made by Punjab Kings in a unique way, when Bollywood superstar Salman Khan announced Shreyas Iyer as the new captain of the team during the Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 18. Yuzvendra Chahal and Shashank Singh were also present on this occasion.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the IPL 2024 title under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer. Punjab Kings bought Shreyas Iyer for Rs 26.75 crore in the IPL Mega Auction, and he became the second most expensive player in the IPL.
Iyer has an excellent record in captaincy. In 2020, he led Delhi Capitals to their first IPL final, although they lost to Mumbai Indians (MI). After this, Delhi made Rishabh Pant the captain in 2021. Iyer was bought by KKR in 2022, and he also led the team to an IPL title.
The Punjab Kings team for IPL 2025 includes these players: Shashank Singh, Prabhsimran Singh, Arshdeep Singh, Shreyas Iyer, Yuzvendra Chahal, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Nehal Wadhera, Harpreet Brar, Vishnu Vinod, Vijaykumar Vaishakh, Yash Thakur, Marco Jansen, Josh Inglis (Rs 2.60 crore), Lockie Ferguson, Azmatullah Omarzai, Harnoor Pannu, Kuldeep Sen, Priyansh Arya, Aaron Hardy, Musheer Khan, Suryansh Shedge, Xavier Bartlett, Paila Avinash, Praveen Dubey.
IPL 2025 will start from March 21. This time ICC code of conduct will be implemented in IPL.
