IPL 2025: The tournament will start from March 14, the final will be played in Kolkata on May 25!

Delhi: The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) can start from March 14 and the final match is likely to be held on May 25. According to the report of ESPNcricinfo, although the venue has not been officially announced yet, but there are speculations that the final could be held at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, as KKR won the 2024 IPL title.

Possible dates of the upcoming IPL season

According to sources, IPL 2026 can be organized between March 15 to May 31 and 2027 from March 14 to May 30. A total of 74 matches will be played in the 2025 edition. Furthermore, the media rights for the 2023-27 cycle have already been sold, and all member countries have assured the BCCI of ensuring the availability of players.

Players from Australia and England approved

Cricket Australia (CA) has given permission to its international and domestic players to play in IPL 2025. However, after the ODI series against Pakistan in 2026, their players will join the IPL from March 18.

On the other hand, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has also given a list of 18 centrally contracted players, who will be available for the 2025-27 IPL. However, Test captain Ben Stokes has not participated in the 2025 mega auction.

Mega auction on 24th and 25th November

The mega auction of IPL 2025 will be held on 24 and 25 November in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This time, the base price of 81 out of 574 shortlisted players is Rs 2 crore. Big players include Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, Shreyas Iyer, Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal and foreign stars include players like Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc, Jos Buttler, David Warner, Trent Boult.
