IPL 2025 Starts March 23, Confirms BCCI VP Rajeev Shukla | Read

Rajeev Shukla, the Vice-President of the BCCI, has announced that the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will begin on March 23.

The news came right after an important Special General Meeting (SGM) held in Mumbai today.

The 18th edition of the IPL is set to kick off just two weeks after the ICC Champions Trophy final, which is scheduled for March 9, 2025.

During the SGM, Devajit Saikia was elected as the new BCCI Secretary, and Prabhtej Singh Bhatia was appointed as the new Treasurer.

Jay Shah left the position of BCCI Secretary when he became the ICC Chairman in December, while Ashish Shelar stepped down from the Treasurer role after being elected as a Cabinet Minister in the Maharashtra Government. These changes occurred shortly after these announcements.

In addition, Shukla revealed that a meeting to finalize India’s squad for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy will be held on January 18 or 19. The ICC has set a deadline of January 12 for all teams to announce their squads, but India is taking some extra time to finalize theirs. Meanwhile, teams from England, New Zealand, and Bangladesh have already confirmed their squads for the tournament.

India’s first match in the Champions Trophy will be against Bangladesh in Dubai on February 20. They will also face Pakistan on February 23 and play against New Zealand on March 2. All of India’s group-stage matches are scheduled to take place in Dubai.
