Good news for Bangladeshi fans! Ban on IPL broadcast lifted, big order came before today’s opening match
IPL Live Telecast in Bangladesh: Just before the start of IPL 2026, big news has come out from Bangladesh. The government has lifted the ban on the telecast of the Indian Premier League, making it possible to telecast this popular tournament there again.
According to media reports, Bangladesh Information and Broadcasting Minister Zaheer Uddin Swapan has clarified that there is no ban on the telecast of IPL. He said that the government wants to keep sports and politics separate and if any channel applies for broadcasting, it will be given positive consideration.
Broadcasting will not be stopped
He also indicated that if any broadcaster including Star Sports wants to show IPL, it will not be stopped. Also, local channels may also get permission to broadcast.
Earlier, Minister of State for Sports Aminul Haq had also indicated that he would talk to the concerned officials on this issue. Cable Operators Association official Rezaul Karim Lablu also said that he has not received any instructions regarding any ban from the government.
The interim government had imposed a ban
Let us tell you that BCCI had recently ordered IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders to drop Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from their team. Soon after, KKR released Mustafizur Rahman from their team. Angered by this step, the then interim government of Bangladesh now took a big step. Bangladesh had indefinitely banned the telecast of the world’s most famous cricket league, the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Tournament starts from today
It is noteworthy that the first match of IPL 2026 will be played today i.e. on 28th March between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad. After this, Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders will face each other on March 29.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has also recently released the schedule of the second phase of this season. The league stage matches will be played till May 24, while the schedule of the playoff matches is expected to be announced soon.
