IPL 2026: Chennai Super Kings created new strength, see complete team list

New Delhi. The performance of five-time champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2025 was very disappointing. This franchise, which was on the first position, remained at the bottom of the points table this time. To rectify this failure, CSK has made major changes in the team before IPL 2026.

Which players did CSK release and trade?

The team released a total of 10 players, which included Mathisha Pathirana. Apart from this, Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran were traded with Rajasthan Royals. Sanju Samson was included in the team in place of Jadeja-Karan.

The core team was retained by retaining some key players including captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Dewald Brewis, Urvil Patel and Ayush Mhatre were also included in the team as injury replacements.

CSK had entered the auction with the second largest budget. The team was left with Rs 43.4 crore, out of which a maximum of 9 players were bought.

Karthik Sharma – 14.2 crores

Both of them became the most expensive uncapped players in IPL history.

Akil Hussain (West Indies) – 2 crores

Matthew Short (Australia) – 1.5 crores

Matt Henry – 2 crores

Rituraj Gaikwad (captain), Shivam Dubey, Noor Ahmed, Khalil Ahmed, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Anshul Kamboj, Gurjapaneet Singh, Dewald Brewis, Nathan Ellis, Jamie Overton, Ayush Mhatre, Ramakrishna Ghosh, Urvil Patel, Mukesh Chaudhary, Shreyas Gopal.

Team strengths and possibilities

CSK has prepared a balanced team through auction and trading. The mix of young and experienced players brings strength to both batting and bowling. The inclusion of expensive uncapped players like Prashant Veer and Karthik Sharma is being considered a big strength for the team.
