Sun TV filed complaint against CSK

In fact, in the jersey launch video of Chennai Super Kings, songs, dialogues and background music from films like Jailer, Jailer 2 and Coolie were used for MS Dhoni’s entry. The Sun team filed a complaint against CSK, terming it illegal. They filed a case for copyright infringement. Now this video has been removed by CSK. This video has been removed from CSK’s website.

Actually, this whole controversy started on March 1 with Chennai Super Kings posting the video of the jersey launch on their social media. CSK used audio tracks of Rajinikanth’s films in this video. Taking cognizance of this, Sun TV Network lodged a complaint. He said in his complaint, ‘CSK has violated the copyright in its jersey video by taking advantage of the popularity of Rajnikanth and Anirudh Ravichander’s music in South India.’

Earning details sought from CSK

An email was sent by Sun TV to CSK on March 1, after which Chennai Super Kings removed the video. Despite this, he has approached the High Court to stop CSK from using such material in future and has demanded from them to provide details of commercial earnings.
