IPL 2026: In the world’s biggest T20 league, IPL, many great players have achieved great feats and earned fame. Three legendary players of Indian cricket, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been playing in the first season of IPL since 2008. These players have made many records in their names in IPL. So far in IPL history, only 9 batsmen have scored 5000 or more runs, which include the names of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and these three greats will once again enter the IPL. Dhoni is the sixth player to score the most runs in IPL

Dhoni has so far scored a total of 5439 runs in the IPL while playing 242 innings of 278 matches. Dhoni is at sixth position in terms of scoring most runs in IPL. Ahead of him are Virat, Rohit, Dhawan, David Warner and Suresh Raina.

Dhoni will have a chance to make a big record

Dhoni is at third place in terms of scoring the most runs while playing for an IPL franchise. Dhoni has scored 4865 runs while playing for Chennai Super Kings. Now, after scoring 135 runs in IPL 2026, Dhoni will become only the third player in the history of IPL to score 5000 or more runs while playing for a single franchise team. Till now this feat has been done by Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

It is noteworthy that Dhoni has played for only 2 franchise teams in IPL so far. Apart from Chennai Super Kings, he has played only for Rising Pune Supergiant. Dhoni has scored 4865 runs for CSK. While playing for Rising Pune Supergiant in 2 seasons 2016 and 2017, he has scored a total of 574 runs in 30 matches.
