As a memorable and exciting start to a new IPL season, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are gearing up for a grand reunion event called ‘Roar ’26’ at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 22. CSK, known for its deep connection with its fans and a legacy based on continuity, is taking things to a new level this year by bringing together legends and current stars under one roof.

‘OG Super Kings’ reunite for grand fan engagement

The event is scheduled from 4 PM to 9 PM IST and is being billed as more than just a fan meet. It is a celebration of CSK’s journey, a tribute to its loyal Yellow Army, and a rare opportunity to see players from different generations on the same stage again. From iconic match winners to current heroes, the evening will be a blend of cricket, entertainment and pure emotion.

One of the biggest features of the program will be a unique exhibition competition in which “AND Super Kings” The team will compete against the current CSK lineup. Fans can expect high energy moments as legends like Matthew Hayden, Dwayne Bravo, Suresh Raina, Muttiah Muralitharan, Murali Vijay and Subramaniam Badrinath will return to Chepauk, a ground where they have created countless unforgettable memories.

Interestingly, many of these legends are currently associated with unfavorable franchises. Bravo serves as a mentor with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Hayden has taken up a role with Gujarat Titans (GT), while Muttiah Muralitharan is part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) setup. Despite these professional commitments, CSK has coordinated with the franchises to ensure their participation, underscoring the emotional appeal of the franchise.

Although initial buzz hinted at a big announcement during the event, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan played down such speculations. “This is merely a prelude to the season and an exercise in fan engagement. No further reading required,” He clarified, while also adding that around 19-20 former players are expected to be a part of the celebration.

However, not every familiar face will be in attendance. Veteran off-spinner R Ashwin, who started his IPL career with CSK, is likely to be absent from the event due to prior commitments.

Star power, music and fan experience will define Roar ’26

Apart from cricket, Roar ’26 is shaping up to be a complete entertainment event. Adding a cultural and musical dimension to the evening, Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman will give a special live performance, taking the ambiance of Chepauk to a whole new level.

CSK has described the program in grand terms, emphasizing its inclusiveness and emotional appeal. “The evening will see renowned Oscar award winning music director AR Rahman deliver a special live performance, transforming Chepauk into a throbbing arena of music and lights, filling it with celebration and holistic fan experiences that will create memories of a lifetime,” an official CSK statement said.

With a lineup like this, fans can expect to see a seamless blend of cricket memories and world-class entertainment, making this one of the most unique pre-season events in IPL history.

Tickets for the event became available on March 15 and are available through multiple official platforms including the CSK app, the franchise’s official website and District. The franchise has given a clear warning to fans, asking them to avoid unauthorized sellers and unauthorized platforms to avoid any inconvenience.

Meanwhile, preparations for the IPL season are already going on in full swing. By the time the event takes place, new signings like Sanju Samson and Sarfaraz Khan have joined the CSK camp in Chennai. Samson’s presence in particular has given rise to discussions over the future leadership of the team, with MS Dhoni expected to play a mentor role as per the franchise’s plans.

CSK will begin their IPL 2026 with an away match against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on March 30, followed by a return home match against Punjab Kings on April 3. Due to the upcoming elections only the preliminary matches have been announced, increasing the excitement around the season.
