IPL 2026: Good news for Mumbai Indians, who are struggling with continuous defeats, Rohit Sharma’s return date revealed.
IPL 2026: There is relief news for Mumbai Indians (MI), who are facing consecutive defeats in the Indian Premier League 2026. The team’s star batsman Rohit Sharma is recovering from his hamstring injury and can make a comeback in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on 29 April. This match will be played at Wankhede Stadium.
Actually, 38-year-old Rohit was injured during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on April 12. After this he missed three matches against Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings. Now according to reports, he is getting fit rapidly and looks ready for the next match.
Batting became weak without Rohit
In the absence of Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians’ batting looked very weak. Rohit had performed well in the beginning of the season. He scored 137 runs in 4 matches, in which the average was 45 and the strike rate was 165. He also wore an orange cap for some time.
In his absence, young opener Danish Malewar was given a chance, but he could score only 2 runs in two matches. Suryakumar Yadav and captain Hardik Pandya also could not make much contribution with the bat. Recently, Mumbai suffered a bad defeat by 103 runs against Chennai Super Kings.
The road to playoffs became difficult
With only 2 wins in 7 matches, Mumbai Indians are at 8th place in the points table. His net run rate is also -0.736. Reaching the playoffs has now become challenging for the team. Rohit’s return can strengthen the team’s batting, but everything does not depend on just one player.
Bad form of Mumbai Indians
Rohit’s injury is not the only reason for the team’s poor form. Some decisions taken in the IPL auction and frequent changes in the playing eleven are also increasing the difficulty. Questions are being raised on both the captaincy of captain Hardik Pandya and his personal form.
The team management will now have to quickly make a strong strategy. Mumbai Indians are expected to get new energy from the return of Rohit Sharma, but continuous wins will be necessary to remain in the race for the playoffs.
