It is worth noting that the IPL 2026 auction was held on December 16 at the Etihad Center in Abu Dhabi. Gujarat Titans had entered this auction with the remaining purse of Rs 12.9 crore. The team had a total of 5 vacant slots, out of which 4 slots were kept for foreign players.
Bidding war for Jason Holder
West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder, who took the most wickets in T20 cricket this year, has once again made a strong comeback in the IPL. His base price in the auction was Rs 2 crore, on which Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was the first to bid. Considering Holder’s experience and all-round skills, his demand appeared strong from the beginning.
CSK soon faced a tough challenge from Gujarat Titans and a fierce bidding war was witnessed between the two teams. The bidding reached Rs 7 crore, whereupon CSK decided to back out. Finally Gujarat Titans acquired Jason Holder for Rs 7 crore.
