In the 52nd match of IPL 2026 on Saturday at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Gujarat Titans defeated Rajasthan Royals by 77 runs. This tremendous win took GT straight from fifth to second place in the points table, while RR dropped out of the top-4 for the first time and slipped to fifth. The net run rate of GT has also strengthened.
Batting first, Gujarat scored 229 runs losing 4 wickets. Rajasthan’s innings collapsed at 152 runs in 16.3 overs. This defeat proved to be a big blow for RR, as now their race for playoffs has become difficult.
Change in points table: Sunrisers Hyderabad on top with 7 wins in 11. GT also finished second with 7 wins out of 11. Punjab Kings are third with 6 out of 10, RCB are fourth with 6 out of 10. RR 11 off 6 for fifth. Chennai from 5 to sixth out of 10, Kolkata from 4 to seventh out of 10, Delhi from 4 to eighth out of 11, Mumbai from 3 to ninth out of 10, Lucknow from 3 to tenth out of 10.
Run rates separated teams with similar wins. The Purple Cap is now held by GT’s Kagiso Rabada, who has taken 18 wickets in 11 matches. Rabada, who took 2 wickets in this match, left his rivals behind. Orange Cap to Heinrich Klaasen of Sunrisers, 494 runs in 11 innings.
This win of GT is paving the way for the playoffs, while RR is in dire need of a comeback. Rabada’s performance remains the center of discussion.
