Before the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Gujarat Titans, in a big bet, have appointed Australian legend as their batting coach. Great Australian player Matthew Hayden has been appointed by Gujarat Titans as their batting coach for IPL 2026. The franchise announced Hayden’s appointment on Tuesday (March 10).

Commenting on the appointment, Vikram Solanki, Director of Cricket, Gujarat Titans, said, “Matthew Hayden’s appointment comes at an important juncture in our journey. As a franchise, we are committed to achieving great and long-term success. We continue to focus on strengthening our cricketing ecosystem. His experience at the highest level and his ability to guide emerging talent will be a great asset to us for the coming season. Batting will play an important role in creating identity.”

While talking about his new role, Hayden said, “Good batting creates pressure. Good batting takes over the game. This is the standard we want to set at Gujarat Titans. I am very excited for this new role and hope that I will be able to live up to my role in taking the Gujarat team forward.”

If we talk about Matthew Hayden, he played a total of 273 international matches for Australia in all three formats, in which he scored more than 15,000 international runs. Not only this, he also played an important role in helping the Australian team win many ICC tournaments. His aggressive approach to batting gave a new dimension to white-ball. He entertained the fans a lot in IPL also. Hayden played 32 matches in IPL. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see how far he is able to take the Gujarat team as a batting coach.
