Sun TV alleges that the video used: Movies: Music and background score of Rajinikanth’s blockbuster film ‘Jailer’, its sequel ‘Jailor 2’ and the upcoming film ‘Coolie’ were used. Music: The popular track “Hukum” from the film ‘Jailer’ was the main part of this promo. Rights: Sun TV holds the exclusive copyright of the audio and visual rights of these films. (Court Proceedings) Justice Senthilkumar Ramamurthy of Madras High Court heard the case on March 13, 2026: Sun TV’s demand: The network has demanded damages of ₹ 1 crore for this violation. Also, they have sought a ‘permanent injunction’ so that their content is not used in future. CSK’s response: The franchise’s lawyer told the court that the disputed video has been removed from social media immediately after the objection was raised. Next step: The court has directed CSK to file an affidavit by March 16, 2026, in which they will have to give a written assurance that they will not use the video without a license.
