IPL 2026: Is SunRisers Hyderabad’s Run-Chase Of 244 At Wankhede The Highest Run-Chase Against Mumbai Indians?

MI vs SRH, IPL 2026: Ryan Rickelton’s century went in vain as the SunRisers gunned down 244 without much fuss to register their fifth consecutive win and sixth overall to consign Mumbai Indians to their sixth defeat. The likes of Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen silenced the crowd at the Wankhede Stadium as they battered the Mumbai Indians’ bowling to oblivion. Having hunted down 244, it is worth looking at what is the most successful run-chase against the five-time champions.

MI vs SRH, IPL 2026: What is the highest successful run-chase against the Mumbai Indians?

The run-chase of 244 is indeed the highest in IPL history against the Mumbai Indians as the SunRisers did it with more than an over to spare. Before the SunRisers did it, the record belonged to the Punjab Kings when they successfully chased down 204 in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2025 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, thanks to Shreyas Iyer’s otherworldly 87 not out.

As far as the tournament history is concerned, it is the fourth-highest successful run-chase.

MI vs SRH, IPL 2026: Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma’s 129-run stand sets up the run-chase for the SunRisers Hyderabad

Chasing a huge total, the 129-run stand off only 8.4 overs was the springboard through which they successfully gunned down 244. While Head was slow to get off the blocks as he was still struggling to find form, the South Australian was unstoppable after hitting his straps. However, the Mumbai Indians had a chance to review a caught-behind decision against Head but none of them appealed as the noise from the spectators didn’t seemingly enable the players to hear the nick.

After Head’s 21-ball fifty, Mumbai Indians hit back, dismissing Abhishek Sharma (45), Ishan Kishan (0) and Head (76) in the space of nearly six deliveries. But Heinrich Klaasen swung the momentum towards the SunRisers’ favour again by clobbering four boundaries in an over bowled by Ashwani Kumar. The run-rate was well under control despite the SunRisers needing 12 as Salil Arora smashed 30 off 10, including hammering a six off Jasprit Bumrah to take their side over the line.
