IPL 2026: KL Rahul’s brilliant batting, scored a stormy century against Punjab; Equaled the records of Gayle and Rohit

Delhi: In the 35th match of the Indian Premier League 2026, Delhi Capitals (DC) star batsman KL Rahul created havoc with his bat. While playing against Punjab Kings, Rahul not only rescued his team from trouble but also made a series of records. After the initial setbacks, the pair of Rahul and Nitish Rana took the Punjab bowlers to task and took the score beyond 100 in just 10 overs.

Rahul equaled ‘Universe Boss’

In the 15th over of the match, Rahul completed his sixth IPL century by hitting a four. With this century, he has equaled the record of 6 centuries of veteran Chris Gayle. Now he has come jointly at third place in terms of scoring most centuries in IPL history.

1. Fastest century: Rahul completed his century in just 47 balls, which is the fastest century of his IPL career. Earlier, he had scored a century in 56 balls against Mumbai Indians in 2022.

2. Highest score for DC: Rahul now holds the record for the highest individual score while playing for Delhi Capitals. He surpassed Rishabh Pant’s record of 128* runs (vs SRH, 2018).

Rahul reached the level of ‘Hitman’ in T20 cricket

Rahul’s dominance was seen not only in IPL but also in overall T20 cricket. This was the 8th century of his T20 career, with the help of which he has equaled Indian captain Rohit Sharma. Now only Virat Kohli and Abhishek Sharma are ahead of him among Indian batsmen.

The turning point of the match came during the powerplay when Punjab Kings’ Shashank Singh dropped a very easy catch of KL Rahul at the boundary. At that time Rahul was playing on just 12 runs.
