LSG vs DC Highlights: Key Moments From Lucknow Super Giants vs Delhi Capitals, IPL 2026

LSG vs DC Highlights: The Delhi Capitals started off their campaign in the 19th season of the Indian Premier League with a win. The Axar Patel-led side defeated Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets with 17 balls to spare. The bowlers from DC led the charge in the first innings, bowling out their opponents for 141.

However, the pacers from LSG almost got their team back in the game. Mohammed Shami, Prince Yadav, and Mohsin Khan were spot-on in the power play. The three pacers had reduced DC to 26 for four but could not pick another wicket as Sameer Rizvi with 70 and Tristan Stubbs with 39 led the Capitals to a victory in the 18th over.

Rishabh Pant shakes up LSG batting order

Rishabh Pant opened the batting for Lucknow Super Giants, having batted in the middle order for most of the games in the previous season. The experiment from the LSG skipper did not go his way as he was run out in an unfortunate manner. Pant’s opening partner, Mitchell Marsh, played a straight shot which took a deflection from Mukesh Kumar’s hand and ran Pant out at non-striker’s end.

By having Pant open, the Super Giants had to shake up the entire batting order. Aiden Markram, who scored close to 450 runs in 13 innings last season while opening the innings, had to bat at number three. Nicholas Pooran batted at number four despite scoring more than 500 runs in the previous season, while mostly batting at number three. The two overseas batters managed 19 runs in 16 balls while playing out of position.

DC bowlers right on the money

The bowlers from Delhi Capitals were right on the money in their opening game of the season. Lungi Ngidi carried his form from the T20 World Cup 2026 and picked up three wickets. Natarajan too returned with a three-fer. Axar Patel with one and Kuldeep Yadav with a brace controlled the middle-overs in a well-rounded bowling attack. Mukesh Kumar was the only specialist bowler to be wicketleess but the pacer got a crucial run-out to open the floodgates.

LSG pacers wreak havoc on DC in power play

Lucknow Super Giants, after being bowled out for 141 in the first innings, bounced back emphatically. The hosts picked up four wickets in no time and pushed the visitors into all sorts of trouble. KL Rahul, on his return to the top of the order, fell for a first-ball duck. Pathum Nissanka, making his IPL debut, scored only one off the five balls he faced. Nitish Rana, during his 17-ball stay, managed 15 runs before a smart catch from Abdul Samad caused his downfall. Meanwhile, Axar Patel came to bat at number five ahead of Tristan Stubbs and David Miller. The DC skipper was dismissed for a golden duck by Prince Yadav.

In the power play, Mohsin Khan was the pick of the bowlers for the Super Giants. The right-arm pacer conceded only two runs in his two-over spell while picking up Nitish Rana’s wicket. Prince Yadav gave away 14 runs in his two overs and picked up a couple of wickets. The veteran pacer, Mohammed Shami on his debut for LSG, conceded only 13 runs and dismissed KL Rahul.

LSG vs DC: Sameer Rizvi plays a composed match-winning knock

Sameer Rizvi entered the second innings as an impact sub, at a time when DC were staring down at the barrel, facing an embarrassing loss. He came to the crease with 21 runs on the board at the loss of two wickets. Another two wickets fell for five runs as the LSG bowlers were on top. Rizvi played an unbeaten knock of 70 runs in 47 balls and finished the match with a huge six on the first ball of the 18th over.

However, the batter from Uttar Pradesh made sure that he carried on right from where he left off in the previous season. Rizvi scored a half-century to guide the Capitals to a win at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. Notably, the 22-year-old scored a half-century in the last game for DC in IPL 2025 as well.

Tristan Stubbs, scoring 39 runs in 32 balls, played a crucial hand in the second innings for the Capitals. The South African batter shared an unbeaten 119-run stand with Rizvi for the fifth wicket to seal the win for the Capitals.
