IPL 2026- Big action on these big betting apps before IPL starts, 300 platforms blocked
Friends, the Indian Premier League 2026 is about to start, but even before it starts, the Government of India has taken an important step to crack down on illegal online betting and gambling platforms running in the country. With the rapid growth of the online gaming industry, concerns have also increased. In response to this, the authorities have blocked about 300 such websites and mobile apps, let’s know the complete details.
Crackdown on illegal online betting platforms
The crackdown aims to target a variety of illegal platforms, including online sports betting websites, digital casinos and peer-to-peer betting networks. Many of these platforms allowed users to place real money bets on games such as slots, roulette, and live dealer casino games.
Additionally, in a major effort to regulate the rapidly growing online gaming ecosystem, well-known satta-matka networks and several real money gaming apps have also been included in the crackdown.
Thousands of illegal platforms have already been blocked
This is not the first such action. So far, the government has blocked around 8,400 illegal websites and apps related to online betting and gambling.
These figures clearly show that the authorities are taking a strict and proactive approach to monitoring and regulating the online gaming and betting sector.
Why was this action necessary?
The rise of online betting platforms has raised many serious concerns. Many users are said to have suffered huge financial losses, while cases of fraud, scams and misuse of personal data have also come to light.
Due to these risks, the government decided to further tighten the rules and take strict action against platforms running without proper approvals or following the rules.
