IPL 2026: Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani hails Rohit Sharma’s dramatic fitness transformation
Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani shared a heartfelt interaction with Rohit Sharma ahead of the IPL 2026, with the veteran batter beaming after she applauded his impressive fitness progress.
In a video released ahead of their match against the Kolkata Knight Riders, Nita Ambani was impressed by Rohit’s fitter physique. “Wow, Rohit! You look so different, You look like a young boy” she said with a smile.
Her visit to the Mumbai Indians camp included interactions with players and the support staff. During a light-hearted exchange, she introduced Kieron Pollard as “Polly Kaka” to a family member, a moment that quickly became popular among fans online.
Rohit Sharma’s transformation hasn’t happened by chance. Since stepping away from Test cricket in 2025, the 38-year-old has prioritised his fitness with a long-term goal of being ready for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Following India’s setback in the 2023 final in Ahmedabad, Rohit seems determined to mount one last serious push for the trophy. His recent ODI performances underline that ambition. Over the past year, he has scored 650 runs in 14 matches at an average of 50, including a key innings in the Champions Trophy final.
He carried that momentum into the series against Australia, where he looked in excellent touch. Rohit accumulated 202 runs in just three games, highlighted by an unbeaten 121 in Sydney, which earned him the Player of the Series recognition.
While he continues to perform strongly in international cricket, his IPL form has not been consistent in recent seasons, something he will be eager to address this year.
Rohit’s overall IPL record remains impressive, with 7,046 runs from 272 matches. However, big seasons have been rare in recent years. He has crossed 400 runs only three times in the last nine editions.
He accumulated 418 runs last season with a strike rate around 150, offering glimpses of his best without sustaining it throughout.
Mumbai Indians will be counting on a sharper and fitter Rohit to return to his best and deliver a remarkable season, as he simultaneously prepares for the 2027 World Cup.
